Make the assembly levels clear
Use multi-level BOMs to show how components and subassemblies form the finished equipment. Keep versions, drawings and datasheets alongside the part information used to prepare the build.
Explore multi-level BOMs →Mechanical assemblies & industrial equipment
See what goes into a machine, what your team makes and what it needs to purchase. Jems brings multi-level BOMs, quoting, material planning and production tracking together for machinery, fixtures and industrial equipment.
Components, subassemblies & the finished build
A piece of equipment can combine purchased components, manufactured parts and several levels of subassembly. Give quoting, purchasing and the workshop a shared product structure to work from.
Manufacturing workflows to explore
Use multi-level BOMs to show how components and subassemblies form the finished equipment. Keep versions, drawings and datasheets alongside the part information used to prepare the build.
Explore multi-level BOMs →Bring purchased component requirements and material for manufactured parts together with stock, MRP and purchasing. Discuss long-lead items as part of preparing the equipment build.

Follow an illustrative conveyor build, from the manufactured frame and drive subassembly to its purchased motor and rollers. Review the assembly levels, make-and-buy requirements and production work.
01 / Define the build
A multi-level BOM brings a manufactured frame, a drive subassembly and purchased components into the finished conveyor.
Explore multi-level BOMs| Assembly level | Part | Supply |
|---|---|---|
| Finished equipment | Conveyor | Manufacture |
| Subassembly | Frame / drive | Manufacture |
| Component | Motor / rollers | Purchase |
Review the assembly levels with the drawings and part information when preparing the quote and production work.
02 / Plan make & buy
Bring requirements for manufactured parts and purchased items together with stock and MRP.
Explore purchasing & suppliers| Component | Qty | Supply arrangement |
|---|---|---|
| Frame | 1 | Manufacture |
| Motor | 1 | Purchase / stock |
| Roller | 6 | Purchase / stock |
Discuss long-lead components and purchasing alongside the material needed to make the frame and drive assembly.
03 / Follow assembly
Use works orders and operations to follow the work, with shop-floor progress and time capture.
Explore works orders & tracking| Manufacturing work | Sample scope |
|---|---|
| Frame | Fabrication |
| Drive subassembly | Assembly |
| Conveyor | Final assembly |
Review recorded work against the estimate. Product configuration, installation and after-sales requirements are checked separately.
Check your requirements
Bring a multi-level BOM, an equipment quote and a manufactured subassembly. Include the components you purchase.
Multi-level BOMs, versions and drawings, quoting, stock, MRP, purchasing, works orders and recorded component-manufacturing and assembly time.
Long-lead items, option rules, engineering approvals, installation, service visits, warranty processes and maintenance contracts. Manufacturing and field service have different requirements.
Product Configurator and Scheduling are targeted for Q4 2026. Engineering Change Control is on the 2027 roadmap. See the product roadmap for development targets.

Start with a representative job. Agree the software fit, the data to bring across and the help your team needs before implementation begins.
Bring a multi-level BOM and equipment quote. We’ll follow bought-in components, manufactured subassemblies and the final build, including your purchasing and production requirements.
Book your workflow demoWe assess your current system, records and history, then agree migration coverage, validation, training and responsibilities. Your team checks representative jobs before the planned cutover.

Yes. Jems supports multi-level BOMs combining bought-in components, manufactured parts and subassemblies. We can follow a representative equipment structure through material requirements and production work.
Product Configurator is planned for Q4 2026. Current part structures and BOM versions are available to demonstrate, but automatic option configuration is a separate upcoming feature. Bring your option rules so we can discuss the distinction.
Yes. Purchased and customer-owned material can use the same catalogue part while retaining ownership and free-issue requirements. Include an example of customer-supplied equipment or components in the demo.
This page describes equipment manufacturing workflows. If you need installation planning, service visits, warranty processes or maintenance contracts, show us those requirements during the assessment so we can confirm coverage and any additional systems or work needed.
The same Jems Standard subscription applies across these industry workflows: £1,249 per month excluding VAT, including 10 full-access users and 25 shop-floor-only workers. Additional access is sold in blocks; larger deployments receive a tailored quote. Implementation, migration and training are scoped and quoted separately. Use the team pricing calculator to explore your subscription.
We agree a timetable after reviewing your data, workflows and training needs. The scope defines the records and history to migrate, validation checks, responsibilities and the planned cutover. Your team has time to check migrated records and test representative jobs before go-live.
