Material requirements planning
Know what’s needed.
Connect the next step.
Jems MRP connects bills of materials, stock, purchasing and works orders. Plan the components needed for manufacturing jobs using the information held in your ERP, including customer-owned free-issue requirements.
What MRP does
From the BOM
to material decisions.
MRP stands for material requirements planning. A bill of materials describes the components needed to make a product or assembly. Material planning connects those requirements with the stock and purchasing information used to decide what needs to be bought or made.
Jems brings BOMs, stock allocations, purchasing requirements and works orders into the same system. Your team can review material needs in the context of the manufacturing work rather than maintaining a separate spreadsheet for each handover.
The quality of the plan depends on the underlying records. Current BOM quantities, reliable stock records and accurate order information give your team a better basis for making purchasing and production decisions.
A representative job
Components, assemblies
and ownership.
Consider an order for electrical assemblies. The BOM identifies enclosures, connectors, wiring and other components. Some may be held in stock, others need purchasing, and some may be supplied by the customer. The material plan needs to reflect those differences while keeping the assembly requirements connected.
Jems supports customer-owned and free-issue material against the same part record as purchased material. Ownership matters as well as quantity: material held for one customer should be understood in the context of that customer’s requirements.
Supported supplier integrations provide live pricing and stock information, helping your team check supplier availability during purchasing decisions. Integration coverage is discussed against the suppliers you actually use.
Material planning & production
Keep the handover
inside the workflow.
Material planning sits alongside works orders, shop-floor tracking and quality workflows. Goods-in inspection, quarantine and returns are part of Jems’s current quality coverage, so your team can discuss how incoming material is checked and handled before it moves through production.
MRP and production scheduling solve related but different problems. MRP concerns material requirements; scheduling concerns when operations are carried out. Scheduling is planned for Q4 2026 and is not yet available. We’ll review both your material planning and scheduling needs when checking fit.
Bring a representative BOM, an order and the purchasing or shortage reports your team uses today. We can demonstrate the current material workflow and agree what data preparation and training an implementation would require.
Your questions
MRP in Jems.
Is MRP included in Standard?
Yes. MRP, purchasing, stock, bills of materials and works orders are included in Jems Standard. See pricing and use the calculator for your team’s user capacity.
Is Jems standalone MRP software?
MRP is part of Jems manufacturing ERP. It connects material planning with quoting, sales, purchasing, stock and production information in one system.
Can our existing records be migrated?
We review your source records, agree migration coverage and include reconciliation and validation in the implementation scope. The data, history and timetable are confirmed for your business before work starts.
